Children Services Investigator

Licking County Job & Family Services, Protective Services Division, is seeking a Children Services Investigator dedicated to ensuring the safety of children in the Licking County community. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: investigates reports of child abuse/neglect. Process includes interviewing adults, children, family members, neighbors, school officials, hospital/medical providers, etc. to obtain facts and information pertaining to the report; provides crisis intervention to all parties involved; completes safety and family assessments; recommends or removes child from environment if a danger to the health and safety of the child exists. Investigators assess family situations to link with supportive services. Prepares and files complaints, motions and case-related documents for court and testifies in court accordingly. Maintains mandated and timely documentation in specialized software as required by State and Agency. Other duties as assigned.
A successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, or other behavioral science field. Experience (including internships) working with at-risk families in areas such as child welfare, substance abuse, mental health, and/or behavior management preferred. Knowledge of community resources helpful.
Additional qualifications include the ability to work overtime and on-call hours as necessary. Must have physical dexterity/fitness to carry small children, climb stairs, etc. Driving is an essential function of this position. Must have valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record as determined by Licking County Government. Successful drug screen and background check required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.23 - $28.34 per hour
