Are you up for the challenge of becoming MDC’s first Chief of Staff? This role is a high-visibility strategic partner that supports the CEO and executive team with effective decision-making, project management, and execution of strategic initiatives across the organization.
The Chief of Staff will facilitate the organizational and communication framework for executives, employees, and leadership team members to adopt the organization’s mission, vision and achieve our annual goals.
Our Chief of Staff will focus on near-term operational support and strategic planning and projects to ensure the growth and maturity of the organization.
About the Role:
- Operate within the auspices of the purpose and values of the organization.
- Develop strong, trust-based relationships with the Executive Leadership Team, key cross-functional leaders, and employees.
- Codify priorities and run cadence for leadership meetings, board meetings, and leadership offsites, including planning, coordinating, taking notes, and keeping the discussion of a meeting focused.
- Serve as a thought partner and strategic advisor, attending meetings, challenging ideas, and offering different perspectives.
- Operate at a tactical, strategic, and operational level, handling the oversight of projects that do not neatly fit within the organizational chart or that fall between departments or leadership areas of responsibility.
- Collaborate with the executive team members to determine and prioritize business strategies and track high-priority initiatives for the executive team to help identify and mitigate any/potential obstacles.
- Synthesize ideas by linking multiple and sometimes divergent perspectives to assist in creating meaningful feedback for executives.
- Provide inputs on key performance indicators to the executive team as to how to measure project performance.
- Proactively follow up with the team if and when goals are not being achieved to determine why objectives are not being met and communicate progress towards goals.
- Collaborate with the executive team in finding actionable solutions to core problems.
- Lead cross-functional strategic initiatives, facilitate special projects, and ensure action items are executed on behalf of the leadership team.
- Provide the Chief Executive and executives with insight and analysis on the company operations and provide recommendations on improvements across the organization.
- Responsible for structuring and helping to deliver company-wide communications including talks, speeches, reports, and presentations that appropriately reflect the voice, tone, and goals of the executive team.
- Manage the organization’s brand & reputation.
- Assess all inquiries directed to the CEO and determine priority and the proper course of action.
- Triage all incoming requests for the CEO’s time and work collaboratively with the Business Operations Lead to ensure his calendar is aligned with the priorities of the organization.
- Keeping executives organized with logistics, meetings, and emails throughout the day.
- Assist the executive team members to determine and prioritize business strategies based on their schedules.
- Determine key performance indicators and how to measure team performance.
- Responsible for collaborating with the CFO to help manage the organization's budget and finances. Will work with senior executives to develop budgets, track spending, and ensure that the organization's financial resources are being used effectively.

Education: Degree in business administration, finance, similar field or relevant experience.
Experience: 10+ years of support experience organizing and directing multiple teams and departments with a focus on supporting federal contracting businesses and their C-suite executives.
Certification(s): PMP a plus

Location: Hybrid, 3 days a week at corporate headquarters in Manassas, Virginia.
