How you will make an impact!
- Responsible for delivering occupational therapy to patients/clients as directed by the physicians plan of treatment and the occupational therapists plan of treatments.
- Responsible for reporting on the condition of the patient/client to the appropriate supervisor, and other staff members.
- Responsible for performing services which are planned, delegated, and supervised by an occupational therapist. Responsible for making decisions based on individuals educational preparation and experience as an occupational therapy assistant.
- Actively participates in case conferences and makes suggestions to appropriate supervisors.
- Completes other assignments as requested and assigned.
- May have access to personal health information ("PHI") necessary to fulfill the above duties and responsibilities. Access to use and ability to disclose PHI is further defined by each organization/department.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
- Certified as an Occupational Therapy Assistant as approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association and certified to practice in the state in which employed, if applicable.
- One (1) year experience as an occupational therapy assistant.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Able to effectively communicate with all levels of the work force, both clinical and non-clinical.
- Able to perform and prioritize multiple functions or tasks.
- Able to read and interpret technical instructions related to the care of the patient/client.
- Able to visually and auditorially observe and assess the patient.
- Able to effectively deal with multiple changes.
- Able to provide proof of valid drivers license, if applicable.
- Evidence of current CPR/BLS training including adults, children and infants.
- Meets applicable health requirements to provide patient care.
Working Conditions & Physical Effort:
- Work is normally performed in clinics, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, patient homes or occupational settings.
- Work environment involves frequent exposure to communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens and/or potentially infectious or hazardous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment (e.g. face masks, goggles, latex and or non-latex gloves).
- Heavy physical activity that requires frequent and/or occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling over 50 lbs., and to physically stretch, bend, stoop, twist, stand, sit, walk, reach and climb stairs.
ADA Specifications:
- Able to constantly travel within geographic area serviced by office from assignment to assignment.
- Work is normally performed in a residence, aggregate living facility, school or occupational setting.
- Heavy physical activity that may require lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling over 50 lbs., and physically stretching, bending, stooping, twisting, standing, sitting, walking, reaching and climbing stairs.
