    Earn While You Learn! CNA students accepted into the July 11th, 2023 CNA Training Program at the Mid-Coast School of Technology will have the opportunity to be considered for this CNA Apprenticeship program through Pen Bay! The CNA Apprentice will be paid an hourly rate while participating in the CNA training program and be eligible for health care benefits. All tuition fees and text book costs will be paid by Pen Bay! Students accepted into the Apprenticeship program must sign a 12-month work agreement with Pen Bay Medical Center, the Knox Center, Quarry Hill or Waldo County General Hospital.

    Position Summary
      Under the supervision and direction of the CNA Program Instructor and/or Clinical Supervisor, CNA Preceptor and/or long-term care facility’s managers, the CNA Apprentice provides direct care to assigned residents/patients.
    Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred with the exception of applicant who is attending high school.
    • License/Certifications: Must be accepted into LincolnHealth’s or Midcoast School of Technology’s CNA Program to be eligible to be employed as a CNA Apprentice. Attendance and participation in Maine State approved CNA program which prepares the Apprentice to sit for the State of Maine CNA Certification Exam.
    • Experience: N/A
    • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
    • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
    • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
