POSITION SUMMARY:
The Camp Group Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operations of a seasonal day camp by planning and providing a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Under the direction of the Program Director the Camp Group Supervisor:
- Guides summer camp staff in delivery of appropriate activities and overall supervision of children.
- Follows all policies, procedures, and standards as established by the law or the Y (e.g., safety or emergency procedures, behavior guidance strategies, child abuse prevention policies); makes ADA accommodations where appropriate; maintains the program site, equipment, and required program records.
- Nurtures children through purposeful programming; plans activities that are intended to achieve program goals and outcomes, are culturally relevant, are developmentally appropriate, and are consistent with the Y's values.
- Creates a positive rapport and shared interest with all youth; models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Provides opportunities for youth to lead, problem-solve, and make decisions and choices within the program and provides daily opportunities for youth to reflect on and respond to their experiences.
- Provides and welcomes ongoing dialogue with parents and caregivers about their child's needs and progress; connects families to the Y.
- Attends and participates in camp activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must meet one of the following education requirements:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field.
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college of university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field, and 1 year of experience with children
- An associate's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field, and 2 years of experience with children
- An associate's degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field, and 3 years of experience with children.
- The ability to meet the requirements of the Pennsylvania Code Title 55 Chapter 3270 Public Welfare Group Supervisor qualifications and responsibilities
- Ability to communicate positively and professionally using the English Language, both spoken and written
- Ability to demonstrate good decision-making skills, intelligence, flexibility, emotional maturity, a positive outlook, enthusiasm, and a professional attitude towards all clients and staff
- Willingness to work with Administrator and Center Director to plan and implement a self-study, an action plan, program, and self-improvement leading to/and maintaining licensing and accreditation
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
