Camp Si-La-Meo Specialists

Gear up your camper for a week or more of outdoor adventures at our day camp located in Anchorage on the campus of Alaska Pacific University. We take full advantage of this natural setting, making every day another opportunity for campers to explore the forest, practice target sports, or launch a canoe from the waterfront. In addition to a huge catalog of activities and games, we structure each session to create a classic, outdoor summer camp experience.


Rock Wall Specialist:

The Camp Si-La-Meo (SLM) Rock Wall Specialist adheres to Camp Fire Alaska’s (CFA) promise to provide youth with the opportunity to find their spark, lift their voice, and discover who they are through positive and responsible youth/adult interactions within the day camp environment. The Camp Si-La-Meo Rock Wall Specialist will be responsible for providing instruction, guidance, and supervision to staff and campers during rock climbing activities and field trips. In this position you'll gain valuable experience providing a high-quality camp experience for participants and parents within the CFA mission and goals. You'll have an opportunity to lead and participate in all camp activities along with planning and implementing age appropriate activities consistent with campers' needs/abilities that promote, encourage, and demonstrate caring, striving and thriving. Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Prior experience working with youth, preferably in a day/resident camp setting.

Experience in leading/facilitating recreational wall climbing, bouldering, and belaying.

Current Belay Certification or evidence of successful training.

Flexibility in task management and communication to match with changes in operational needs.

Clear and positive verbal, written, and interpersonal communications and presentation skills.

Current Adult/Pediatric CPR, AED & First Aid Certification from a nationally recognized provider.
