We are hiring a results-oriented Buyer / Product Manager for Hardware & Tools for our lumber and building materials retail company. You will be responsible for vendor management, purchasing, merchandising, and marketing in hardware and tools categories. Working closely with vendors, marketing, sales, and IT teams, you will drive profitability and success in your product categories.
Qualifications:
- Strong team player with proven goal-setting and achievement skills
- Product knowledge in Power Tools, Hand Tools, Hardware, and Construction Supplies
- Sales-driven culture with excellent communication skills
- Strong merchandising skills in product purchasing and replenishment
- Proficient in MS Office, with analytical and critical thinking skills
Key Functions, Activities, and Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage relationships with vendors to support and grow product lines
- Hold vendors accountable for commitments
- Conduct thorough evaluation of vendors and products
- Coordinate marketing efforts, including promotions and competition analysis
- Manage product mix and pricing for optimal profitability
- Provide product knowledge and training for stores and yards
- Utilize technology for research, inventory management, and efficiency
- Forecast and order product needs for optimal inventory levels
- Stay updated on market intelligence and trends through effective communication with suppliers
- Create and maintain plan-o-grams, signage, and displays
- Exhibit core competencies such as fair treatment of vendors, focus on core customers, and building strong customer relationships
- Communicate goals, financials, and opportunities clearly and confidently
- Continuously seek ways to improve and articulate ideas
