About the Position
Dexis seeks a Business Development Manager to join our dynamic Business Development Support Services team. Primarily serving as proposal manager and as contributing writer as needed, the successful candidate will also train and mentor staff throughout the company on topics relevant to business development. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of entrepreneurial endeavors, including leading new business efforts in international development and/or foreign affairs with US Government clients, particularly USAID, Department of State, and Department of Defense. International travel, which may include travel to fragile states, may be required.
Responsibilities
Bid Management (70%)
- Lead high value bids as a proposal manager in capture, live, and post-submission phases, including management of proposal teams, calendars, and deadlines; facilitating strategy development with technical staff; partner identification and negotiations; writing; production; and after‐action reviews.
- Serve as section writer for proposals as needed.
- Serve as compliance reviewer for proposals.
- Actively participate in increasing Dexis' visibility in target industry sectors and markets through networking and participation in industry events and organizations.
BD Operations and Processes (30%)
- Contribute to quality control/quality assurance oversight in all business development functions and operations through development, implementation, and continuous refining and improvement of BD processes, systems, tools, platforms, and best practices.
- Conduct tracking to identify new strategic opportunities in line with Dexis priorities.
- Support in-house business development trainings including development, promotion, delivery, and continual improvement.
- Develop, lead, and coach Dexis staff working in business development in a corporate environment that supports adaptive management, quality, and learning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in international development, or related field.
- Minimum of four years of experience and a successful track record in business development with USAID, Department of State, or other US Government agencies and offices.
- Ability to lead proposal efforts, with minimal supervision, about complex technical subjects.
- Excellent English writing, editing, communication and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely and to write for diverse audiences.
- Ability to learn new audiences quickly and identify new opportunities for business, non-traditional partners, and next generation technical strategies ability.
- Skills in Microsoft Office, particularly in Word (advanced document formatting).
- Willingness to travel a minimum of four weeks per year.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in business, communications, marketing, international development, or related field.
- Experience working on projects or proposals for the Office of Transition Initiatives (OTI) or clients in the governance, stabilization, countering violent extremism sectors.
- Knowledge of Salesforce, SharePoint, Adobe, Lucid Chart, and GovTribe.
- Proficiency in French or Spanish.
- Knowledge of the Shipley Model of Proposal Development
