The City of Phoenix Public Transit Department provides local bus, RAPIDĀ® commuter bus, neighborhood and business circulators, Phoenix Dial-a-Ride, and alternative transportation services by contracting with private companies who manage the day-to-day transit operations. The Public Transit Department also provides planning, scheduling, and financial management support to the High Capacity Transit program. In addition to city transit services, Phoenix Public Transit is a member of Metro Light Rail, the regional public corporation which operates the 21-mile light rail line in the Valley, and the Valley Metro Regional Public Transportation Association.

The Public Transit Department is seeking to fill one BRT Project Assistant (Administrative Assistant II) position in the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Program. This position directly supports the design, implementation, and development of the BRT Program and manages community engagement and outreach efforts. This position will be essential in providing needed assistance to ensure the BRT program develops the first BRT system in Phoenix including the council-approved initial BRT corridor and future subsequent corridors.

This BRT Project Assistant will perform duties such as:

  • Support the design, implementation, and development of the BRT Program.
  • Manage and develop BRT community and business engagement campaigns, outreach efforts, and marketing materials.
  • Coordinate with departments, agencies, citizen committees, community and business stakeholders, and community groups.
  • Manage BRT branding and trademarking campaign.
  • Manage website maintenance and development.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain social media content.
  • Manage and respond to community, business, and media inquiries.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Knowledge of Transit and Transportation Systems.
  • Knowledge of City Council reports, processes, and the Legistar software.
  • Knowledge and skills in the principles of transit planning, public administration, communications, and marketing.
  • Able to work independently, efficiently, and produce quality work with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Able to meet tight deadlines, troubleshoot, communicate effectively, multi-task several duties at once with details oriented.
  • Able to demonstrate superior seamless customer service, integrity, and commitment to innovation, efficiency, and fiscally responsible activity.
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills with individuals, groups, and members of the media.
  • Excellent communication skills, the ability to build and maintain relationships, and be committed to continuous improvement, collaborative teamwork, and excellent customer service.

SALARY


$58,032.00 - $88,379.20 annually. Candidates may be hired up to $88,379.20 depending upon qualifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in public or business administration or a related field.
  • Three years of professional experience in public administration or governmental research or finance.
  • Other combinations of education and experience that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

  • Spanish proficiency is desired though not required.

Experience in:

  • Transit projects, program management, or transit planning.
  • Working on projects with extensive community outreach and involvement.
  • Developing social media campaigns, branding campaigns, or maintaining websites.
  • Preparing written materials including council reports and correspondences.
  • Project coordination with departments and agencies.
  • Elected officials, senior management, and community groups.
  • Social media, content development and management.
  • Working as a liaison to other city departments or other governmental agencies.
