The State College Area School District is currently accepting applications for a Building Secretary at Ferguson Township Elementary School. The Building Secretary works with the principal, faculty, staff, students, parents, and visitors. Responsibilities include the management of the building's calendar and meeting schedule; all school-related budget processes; coordinating building communications; managing difficult situations with skill, patience, and diplomacy; and ensuring classroom coverage daily.The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise sound judgment in a variety of situations; demonstrate a commitment to diversity; demonstrate strong written and verbal communication, customer service, administrative, and organizational skills; and have the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently on projects and must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion. Must be able to work independently as well as within a team.
Experience in a secretarial, accounting, or administrative assistant position is required. Experience in public education and/or completion of an accredited secretarial and/or accounting training program is preferred.
