MISSION
It is the mission of the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) to impact and transform young lives, strengthen families, and support safer communities through targeted prevention and rehabilitation.
JOB PURPOSE
Under the general supervision of the Building/Grounds Supervisor, this position will be responsible for all Grounds Maintenance and general cleanup of specific areas on the Department of Juvenile Justice property to include planting, pruning, edging of grass, and general work regarding grounds maintenance. Will also be responsible for ensuing all equipment assigned is maintained in working condition and assists in basic repairs of equipment.
JOB DUTIES
Provides grounds maintenance to Willow Lane, Chaplin Garden, CCC, Victims Garden, Birchwood and John G. Richards planting beds.
Serve as the Grounds Superintendent for the agency and confer with supervisor to coordinate work activities with those of other departments as needed.
Maintains shrubs and ornamental trees for the beautification of the BRRC. (Pruning/IPM/Planting) Provides professional advice for selection, planting and maintenance of woody plants on the BRRC campus.
Plans, designs and installs annual and perennial flower plantings.
Supervises the operation of the Departmental Greenhouse.
Other duties as required by the Building/Grounds Supervisor and the Horticultural Manager.
