Job description
BASIC PURPOSE/SCOPE:
In alignment with the mission of Alternatives, develop and coordinate activities of Bridges Community
Center for the lower 27 townships of LaSalle County. Analyze community needs, as related to older adults, caregivers, and those with disabilities, and integrate into overall service options. Maximize use of fiscal resources through staff, volunteers, and other community resources.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Program development of Community Focal Point and mobile Bridges program sites
Develop and promote programs and activities integrating best practices for older adults, adults with disabilities, and caregivers living in the lower 27 townships of LaSalle County. Work with the Program Director to track service units (Aging IS, Stars) and assess, improve, and sustain grant-supported services.
2. Public education and awareness
Maximize opportunities to educate older adults and their families about resources available, caregiver challenges, and benefits eligibility through conferences, workshops, individual meetings, and newsletters. Assist with completion of state and federal benefit applications, including Medicare and Medicaid. Obtain and/or maintain SHIP and AIRS certifications.
3. Direct supervision of designated staff and volunteers
Recruit, train, and coordinate staff and volunteers to assure high quality services. Keep staff and volunteers up to date on agency information, resources available, and new program implementation. Review employee timesheets, approve/deny vacation requests, and assure accurate payroll records are submitted in a timely manner. Supervise and review volunteer hours and submit in accordance with grant requirements.
4. Partner in the Aging and Disability Resource Network (ADRN)
Work with agency marketing personnel to promote Alternatives and Bridges’ programs and services. Attend required ADRN and other resource network meetings, with a goal of developing opportunities for partnerships and links to available services. Oversee fundraising events and appeals for sponsorship and funding.
5. Manage Advisory Committee
Actively recruit, screen and train volunteer committee members to provide input toward the development of quality programs and services. Facilitate quarterly Advisory Committee meetings by developing agendas, implementing goals, and maintaining records of meetings. Report Committee recommendations to the Board of Directors as needed.
6. Oversee use of facility, equipment, and supplies
Maintain confidential participant information. Review use of office and IT equipment and report any issues or needs. Order supplies and report facility maintenance issues or needs. Maintain, evaluate, update, and implement disaster preparedness plan for site as needed.
7. Other duties as assigned
Assist to assure smooth operations of services and to complete other tasks as assigned in support of the organization’s mission.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors’ degree in human services required. Strong communication and organizational skills required.
Experience in public relations, social services, volunteer recruitment, and employee supervision preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel and ability to maintain organization data entry and reports on computer needed.
In an effort to protect the population served, COVID19 vaccination is required.
