This position will be based in West Haven CT.

Purpose:
Provide leadership and management to branch staff ensuring operational efficiency, excellence in customer service, and the ongoing implementation of the sales process designed to deliver the
Bank’s products and services to potential and existing customers while maximizing the growth, competitiveness, and profitability of the branch.

Scope of Job
Oversee the operations of a branch office with total deposits in excess of $55 million. Ensure the ongoing growth and profitability of the branch by promoting Bank services and products, encouraging continuous staff development, providing optimum customer service, pursuing business development, and being involved in community affairs.

Essential Functions - may include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure service standards are continually achieved in area of responsibility
  • Formulate and execute plans for the development of new business and growth of existing relationships including but not limited to site visits to existing and potential business customers
  • Lead, influence, and proactively work with partners in other departments to develop market area
  • Effectively demonstrate knowledge of all bank products and services to successfully identify and satisfy customer needs
  • Interview commercial loan applicants under the direction of the Loan Officer
  • Exercise administrative control over budget, audit, policy and procedure issues
  • Develop and promote customer relations and Bank services and products; open accounts, cross-sell products and services, and make referrals when appropriate
  • Ensure that the Bank’s security policy and program and the Bank’s loss prevention guidelines are carried out within the branch
  • Prepare and review formal performance evaluations and provide individual performance enhancement objectives
  • Provide the opportunity and environment for developing staff to their fullest potential
  • Participate in Banking and civic organizations to promote the Bank's image and visibility within the community
  • Ensure activities within assigned functional area of responsibility are in compliance with

Bank policy, and State and Federal Regulations

  • Ensure a high level of customer service by branch staff
  • Establish procedures and policies within the office as needed
  • Assign, schedule and perform training as necessary to develop personnel; review, reward, discipline, and set goals for staff which support corporate goals and objectives

  • Knowledge of Bank policies and procedures, State and Federal laws and regulations
  • Responsible for compliance regulations related to this position and receiving appropriate training including but not limited to:
  • Annually o Reg. E – Electronic Fund Transfers Act o Reg. DD – Truth in Savings Act o Reg. CC – Availability of Funds o Right to Financial Privacy Act o Reg. H – Bank Protection Act Ø o Information Security Standards (GLB) (Including Data Protection Act) o Reg.   • Ensures proper upkeep of assigned physical plant and equipment, including ATM, and provides for routine maintenance of operational equipment and systems.
  • Ensures that branch facility is maintained in a neat, attractive, professional, and functionally efficient manner.
  • Ensures that supplies, e.g., money orders, treasurer checks, office supplies, etc., are adequately maintained.
  • Interviews applicants and makes hiring recommendations
  • Serve on committees from time to time
  • Develop, initiate, and participate in special projects
  • Perform other duties as required

The above is a description of the ordinary duties of the position. It should be expected that from time to time other duties, both related and unrelated to the above, may be assigned and, therefore, required.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree, CSFM graduate preferred or equivalent
Five to seven years retail banking with supervisory or management experience, or some comparable combination of education and experience.
Equipment and Software Ability to operate teller terminal, alarm system, fax machine, check printer, personal computer, calculator, photocopier, telephone, currently used bank hardware and software

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Bank products and services and Bank personnel policies
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, discount, interest, profit and loss, commission, percentages, and apply basic arithmetic and mathematics to help resolve problem solving situations
  • Ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions such as in a team, supervisory, marketing, or counseling setting
  • Ability to accept responsibility for the leadership, direction, control, planning, organizing, directing, supervising, formulating of practices, or making final decisions
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure
  • Ability to maintain relationships that facilitate task accomplishments; to cooperate and resolve conflicts; to recognize needs and be sensitive to others
  • Ability to exchange information with others clearly and concisely; to present ideas, facts, and technical information
