Gage Products is in need of a Boiler Operator with experience in building maintenance and boiler maintenance. We have been in business for close to 90 years and offer competitive wages and benefits!

Must have Detroit Boiler License and Must provide

The hours for this position are afternoon shift starting as early as noon, Monday - Friday. You must be able to work every other (rotating with other associate) weekend for 1-3 hours for inspections.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate and maintain the boilers, and generator
• Maintain facility equipment, including powered plant vehicles such as forklifts, switcher, skid steers, etc.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and breakdowns
• Write hot work, confined space and line breaking permits as needed
• Identifying supplies needed for power house operation and maintenance
• Prepare required reports of powerhouse operation
• Maintaining boilers
• Clean, maintain and prepare line cleaning equipment for shipment to customers
• Maintain building and grounds, including roll-up doors, automated gates, trash removal, snow removal, and restocking inventory in office buildings
• Conduct housekeeping activities and Lean Manufacturing practices to ensure an efficient, organized workshop, boiler house and office area
• Perform other maintenance tasks as assigned by senior colleagues and/or Facilities & Maintenance Manager

QUALIFICATIONS (Skills, knowledge, experience):

• 2 – 4 years of boiler operation in a manufacturing experience desired
• Basic technical troubleshooting/repairing equipment proficiency and demonstrated field experience
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required, including basic math skills
• Experience with pumps and piping systems desire
• Demonstrated willingness to learn equipment/operations
• Strong work ethic and attendance record, being available on call may be required
• Good mechanical aptitude; someone who is mechanically inclined would do very well in this role
• Must have Detroit Boiler License
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Able to stand or sit for long periods of time
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Able to withstand extreme weather both hot and cold
• Able to climb ladders and go on top of tanks via crane so cannot have fear of heights
• Cannot be color blind
