Job Summary


The State Employee Group Insurance Program (SEGIP) has an exciting opportunity providing customer service to state employees and their dependents, retirees, and employees of Independent Billing Units (IBUs) who are covered under state benefits.

The incumbent of this position will serve as the initial contact for employees, former employees, and IBU employees, and agency human resource staff requesting information regarding all aspects of enrollment and billing in the State Employee Group Insurance Program. This includes but is not limited to; advising agency human resource staff on state, federal, and SEGIP policies and procedures relating to insurance/benefits.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years of advanced administrative support or paraprofessional experience which includes one (1) year of professional experience providing customer service in a call center or operations related environment AND

  • Strong customer service skills
  • Effective oral and written communication working with a diverse group of individuals
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, including time and priority management, sufficient to work on several projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and within deadlines
  • Ability to administer policies, procedures, and systems while making eligibility determinations
  • Ability to navigate multiple software applications and databases, as well as possessing data entry skills
  • Analytical skills sufficient to research and resolve problems
  • Ability to be flexible and respond effectively in a rapidly changing environment while maintaining effectiveness, productivity and regular attendance
  • Ability to present complex information to users in a comprehensive style
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality as it relates to private information

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of employer sponsored group health insurance administration and eligibility requirements
  • Experience working with benefits administration or HR related systems or similar software system
  • Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements or plans and the ability to understand and interpret contractual language
  • Knowledge of MN Government Data Practices Act and Federal HIPAA laws as they relate to insurance information
  • Experience with PeopleSoft SEMA4
  • Experience working in a union environment
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations sufficient to correctly enroll individuals in billing and determine premium payments
