Summary

Oldcastle Lawn and Garden is looking for a hands-on Shift Supervisor with an entrepreneurial spirit to oversee all aspects of a fast-paced lawn & garden products manufacturing facility. The Shift Supervisor will support the Bag Plant Manager and support bag production and oversite of Bag Plant Employees. This position may be needed to flex work schedule between 1st shift and 2nd shift as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• 
  Ensure that all employees are wearing appropriate PPE and following all Safety policies and procedures.
• Has the authority to stop work due to safety issues and redirect employees as needed due to unforeseen situations such as equipment breakdowns or unsafe conditions
• Oversee set production goals and expectations
• Support Bag Plant Manager with employee oversite, bag production, following safety policies, etc.
• Ensure the daily work plans being completed while following all company policies.
• Communicates to Dept Manager, documenting what work was completed and what needs to be finished.
• Review production reports to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain shift production line housekeeping and conduct monthly housekeeping audits
• Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed.
• Would flex from 1st to 2nd shift as needed.
• Supervise employees in department to ensure they meet quality standards
• Troubleshoot, problem solve, assist, support to correct/adjust/fix any issues with manufacturing machine function.
• Function independently and as a team. Follow direction from Bag Plant Mgr, anticipate and initiate production and manufacturing line needs

Requirements / Education / Experience

• 
  Safety first mindset – familiar with LOTO policies/procedures
• Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience needed
• Strong supervisory skills – mentoring new hires to learn job tasks/responsibilities, ability to coach employees in a positive/productive manner.
• Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience
• Must have strong mechanical aptitude or experience, excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
• Experience with Hamer manufacture lines would be preferred but not required
• Forklift experience preferred, but will train the right candidate

Physical Environment

• 
  Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
• Endure intermittent climbing, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, pushing, and pulling
• Walking up and down elevated catwalks and stairs and standing for long periods of time.
