Role, Team & Responsibilities:
Hiscox USA is currently searching for an underwriter to manage our US based underwriting teams. The position is an integral part of the Regional Management Team, cultivating new and driving renewal business across the US for our Entertainment, Media and Terrorism products. This is a great opportunity for a relationship-oriented individual who has the knowledge, broker relationships, experience and desire to lead a team, striving to consistently and efficiently produce at a high level.
Lead, develop and manage a team of high-performing Field Underwriters, building a team and focusing their efforts to achieve results- Drive marketing and new business development with our brokers
- Oversee underwriting, pricing and negotiating of accounts to win new business and retain renewals, consistent with Hiscox underwriting guidelines and profitability targets
- Oversee and be accountable for the portfolio of Entertainment, Media & Terrorism for the entire US
- Work with operations, claims and marketing to build products and contribute to the financial performance of the unit
- Maintain excellent service standards
- Develop new relationships and maintain existing relationships with the regional broker base
- Create and execute a National plan for the Entertainment, Media & Terrorism groups that will encompass Marketing, broker management, new business growth, and budget expectations
person specification:
- 5 or more years of insurance underwriting experience
- People management experience preferred
- Sales orientation; comfort developing and maintaining broker relationships
- Strong wholesale and retail broker relationships in the Northeast preferred
- B.A./B.S degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Risk Management or a related field is preferred

- The ability to identify business needs
- Comfort operating in a hybrid environment (mix of work from home, in-office and on-site with brokers)
- Strong financial analysis skills
- Strong understanding of sales principles, negotiation skills and demonstrate a competitive drive
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment
- Innate customer service mentality enabling one to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external customers and partners
- 20-30% domestic travel required
