Job description

This position is responsible for supporting automotive engineers through testing and troubleshooting prototype designs and making recommendations for continuous improvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support vehicle content development through requirements, design, development, and QA phase.
  • Gather information from vehicles, OE testers, and benchmark tools (reverse engineering).
  • Validate proof of concepts and development artifacts on bench and vehicle.
  • Access and research new information from the web as well as information related to the development of vehicle data, service instructions, and manuals
  • Identify and procure vehicles for analysis, development, and validation.
  • Utilize automotive bus analyzers and diagnostic equipment to ensure the quality of Bosch products
  • Utilize knowledge of vehicle mechanical fundamentals in order to validate designs
  • Research and apply new technologies to improve the design process.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Knowledge of fundamental automotive technologies
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle systems including on-board controls, engine performance, transmission, ABS, and SIR modules

Preferred:

  • Two-year associates degree in automotive technology or equivalent training/experience
  • Minimum of 2 years previous experience
  • ASE, IATN, or SAE certifications or affiliations

SKILLS:

  • Skilled in the usage of automotive test equipment

Moderate knowledge and experience using PC applications such as MS Excel, MS Word, etc.

  • Basic knowledge of databases, MS Access
  • PC configuration and installation skills
  • Basic math knowledge such as number systems, basic algebra
  • Clear and effective communication skills to work well in a team environment.

ABILITIES:

  • Ability to follow and understand detailed test procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work and schedule
  • Ability to read flow charts including process maps, test plans, and flows
  • Ability to navigate the internet for research purposes
  • Ability to work independently and with a team

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Repetitive keyboard usage
  • Constant viewing of computer monitor
