Description:

The A&I Engineer is responsible for rolling mill automation, training, troubleshooting major failures, software back-up, research, development, improvement and testing of electrical/electronic components, equipment and systems. The position works closely with production and maintenance personnel, as well as management to ensure continuous operation and continuous improvement of equipment and processes. The position reports to the Maintenance General Foreman.

Requirements:

• BS in Electronics, Networking, Automation or Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience required; heavy industrial or steel industry preferred
• 5 years’ experience required; Steel Industry preferred
• Strong knowledge of AC/DC controls and motors
• Ability to oversee electrical products, equipment, systems, etc. including elements of design, implementation, maintenance, and operational and safety standards
• Prior experience in programming PLCs in a manufacturing setting
• Solid understanding of computer programming and software development
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex system tests
• Must be comfortable using MS Office, SAP, IBA and CAD
• Must be willing to work in both an office setting and get hands on in the field
• Must be able to translate operator requests into actionable automation items

• Advanced programming experience on the following platforms:
  • GE innovation series controllers
  • Toshiba NV controllers
  • RX3i controllers
  • GE Genius Block I/O networks
  • IBA Analytical tools
  • Siemens S7/TIA
• Commission systems
• Solid understanding of computer programming and software development
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex system tests
• Creative thinking skills
• Detail-oriented personality
• Excellent manual dexterity
• Ability to communicate well with operators, maintenance, and members of the leadership team

Desired technical knowledge:

• A/C Motor tuning
• A/C High and Medium voltage GE and ABB drives
• GE Cimplicity, HMI software
• Computer networking
• Cisco switching/router configuration
• Siemens S7/TIA Programming
