A plastic injection molding manufacturer with over 30 years in the plastics industry, specializing in complex, high volume, quality molded products for the automotive, appliance, and furniture industries, is seeking an Automation Engineer to join their growing team located in Wolfeboro, NH.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing, developing, and enhancing electro-mechanical systems and mechatronic devices.
  • Creating and supporting automated systems and the software to control them.
  • Enhance or modify existing PLC and HMI programs.
  • Conducting research, documenting findings, and presenting reports at meetings.
  • Developing design documents for mechanical parts and final products.
  • Conduct studies to determine the feasibility, costs, or performance benefits of new mechatronic equipment.
  • Maintain technical project files.
  • Identify and select materials appropriate for mechatronic system designs.
  • Identifying areas of weakness in the production line or finished products and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Upgrade the design of existing devices by adding mechatronic elements.
  • Implement or test design solutions.
  • Understanding problems or client briefs and developing solutions that satisfy them.
  • Selecting the required tools and materials for the manufacturing process.
  • Create mechanical models and tolerance analyses to simulate mechatronic design concepts.
  • Research, select, or apply sensors, communication technologies, or control devices for motion control, position sensing, pressure sensing, or electronic communication.
  • Assisting with recruitment, onboarding, and training of junior Engineers or Apprentices.
  • Provide consultation or training on topics such as Automation or automated control.
  • Attending workshops, training sessions, and conferences to network with others and stay on top of field advancements.
  • Oversee the work of contractors in accordance with project requirements.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by manager.

Requirements:

  • BS in Mechatronics Engineering or similar.
  • Basic understanding of PLC, PLC programming and HMI controls (preferably Allen Bradley).
  • Basic understanding of robotics controller and motion profiles (preferably Fanuc Robotics).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical components and Hydraulic circuitry.
  • Basic understanding of SolidWorks and ability to design within the software.
  • A completed apprenticeship or additional courses would be advantageous.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
