Avantor, a Global Fortune 500 company, is looking for a dedicated Associate Scientist- Chemistry to optimize our Biopharma organization. This is a full time Bridgewater, NJ based role.

What we’re looking for:

• Education Bachelor’s degree is required.
• One+ year -aiding in the development of scientific discovery is required; Hands-on execution of chemical laboratory experiments is required; experience conducting experimental work following Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) principles is required; experience managing laboratory equipment is required; experience conducting lab work & process development for chemical products / polymers is required; experience providing hands on support to conduct synthesis work is required; experience preparing experimental protocols, SOPs and analytical testing is required; experience planning and performing laboratory experiments is required; experience analyzing, summarizing and reporting results is required. Working knowledge of experimental laboratory instruments and scientific products is required; experience with organic and polymer synthesis as well as characterization methods and tools is required; Basic computing skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (or equivalent) is required. Experience utilizing safe laboratory practices and procedures is required
• Direct laboratory experience in synthesis, purification and characterization of organic molecules, polymers and inorganic material is preferred.
• Experience working in a GLP/GMP facility is preferred.
• Experience preparing experimental protocols, SOPs and analytical test methods is preferred.
• Operation and routine maintenance of laboratory instruments and troubleshooting procedures in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) experience is preferred.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Under minimal supervision, independently or jointly this role will be responsible for planning and performing laboratory experiments such as materials synthesis/purification, cell culture, fermentation, downstream processes along with chemical or biochemical analysis to advance new product/application projects though development phases. An entry level opportunity the Associate Scientist, Chemistry/ Biopharma will contribute to Avantor’s new product introduction initiatives to meet material needs of bioprocessing workflows by assisting in the development of new molecule synthesis and purification processes.

The Associate Scientist will:

• Maintain laboratory area, utilizes safe practices while working in the laboratory environment as per EHS guidelines and policy.
• Support preparation of materials/samples following defined protocols.

• Conform to all customer requirements for background checks, health and safety issues, security clearances and medical checkups.
• Perform duties with the highest regard for safety and quality.
• Perform independently and manage responsibilities while following scientific direction.
• Must be able to lift 25lbs minimum.
• Skilled at prioritizing tasks, problem solving, and meeting deadlines.
