Administrative Faculty Position at the Mesa Workforce Development C
The Associate Director of Food and Beverage Operations will be responsible for leading a team of part-time instructors and support staff in delivering high-quality educational and training programs in state-of-the-art food and beverage labs and classrooms. This includes developing and teaching courses, creating and revising curriculum, and overseeing the implementation of high-demand digital badges and certificates. - Teach up to the equivalent of six three-credit courses per year.
- Responsible for hiring, managing, and scheduling part-time food and beverage instructors and support staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality education and training.
- Develop and maintain relationships with industry partners to ensure that the food and beverage educational and training programs are relevant, current, and meets the needs of the industry.
- Collaborate with the Associate Dean and other members of the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management to promote the food and beverage programs and initiatives of the C
- Manage food and beverage facilities, budget, and resources to ensure efficient and effective operation.
- Develop courses, create and revise curriculum.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends and innovations in the food and beverage industry, and incorporate these into the curriculum and programs of the C
- Oversee the development and delivery of food and beverage digital badges, certificates, and other recognition mechanisms to acknowledge the skills and achievements of students.
- Plan and coordinate the student training activities at the Kind Hospitality restaurant.
- Develop and implement outreach and recruitment strategies to attract and retain students in the food and beverage programs of the C
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students, and promote the development of soft skills, such as customer service, leadership, teamwork, and communication.
- Provide leadership and support to the team of part-time instructors and support staff, and ensure that they have the resources and support they need to succeed.
- Earned Associate's degree in culinary arts or related field from an accredited institution.
- Five years of experience in the food and beverage industry, with a focus on culinary arts.
- Five years of experience in undergraduate culinary arts education.
- Evidence of excellence in working with historically underrepresented constituencies.
- Ten years of experience in the food and beverage industry, with a focus on culinary arts.
- Ten years of teaching experience in undergraduate culinary arts education.
- Demonstrated evidence of teaching effectiveness.
- Five years of administrative experience at a culinary undergraduate program.
- Experience in designing culinary programs that integrate food and beverage production with learning environments.

This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities. Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
This is an Administrative Faculty (ADF) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) or the Optional Retirement Program (ORP); 22 days of vacation, sick leave accruals, and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified family members. More information on benefits at NAU is available at the NAU HR benefits page. Administrative Faculty are hired on a contract basis, renewable annually according to the terms of offer. Upon completion of the administrative assignment, employees will return to the faculty role, renewable according to the Conditions of Faculty Service. Academic year (9 month) faculty do not accrue vacation. Employees offered a position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's BCBS Plan). Employees will have 31 days from date of hire to enroll in benefits, and their benefits will then be effective the first day of the pay period following their completed enrollment. If a new employee chooses the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) retirement option, participation in the ASRS Plan (and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it) will begin on the first of the pay period following 183 days of employment. New employees who choose to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP; an alternative to the ASRS plan) will begin to participate on the first day of the pay period following election.
