Job Summary

Seeking regulatory attorney to advise and represent PSEG companies before state regulatory commissions, predominantly the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities. Please note this is a multi-level position. The title and grade will be dependent upon the candidate’s level of skill, knowledge, and experience, among other factors.


Job Responsibilities

  • Assume major case or matter responsibility with little to no supervision or direction.
  • Develop and implement appropriate legal strategy with minimal supervision.
  • Independently handle, with little or no supervision, full array of matters and proceedings within practice area.
  • In absence of practice area head, independently handle matters and identify issues at same level of engagement & similar level of expertise that supports operational excellence.
  • Work with senior management to provide legal guidance in the development and implementation of strategic business objectives.
  • Proactively and regularly provide direction and counsel to lower level attorneys; act as mentor and coach.
  • Consistently demonstrate substantive law competency in all facets of practice area work, and expertise in at least one specialty within practice area.

Job Specific Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school in the United States
  • Admitted to the bar in New Jersey (or ability to be admitted after hire)
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience working on regulatory matters before one or more state regulatory commissions

Desired Qualifications and Competencies:
  • Experience before state regulatory agencies such as the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, the New York Public Service Commission, or other similar regulatory agencies
  • Experience in utility ratemaking/rate cases
  • Experience working as an attorney in an in-house corporate law department or regulatory agency
