Slaughter, Reagan & Cole, LLP, is a mid-size, AV rated, Ventura County business litigation and insurance defense firm located within walking distance from the beach. We are seeking a litigation associate with zero to three years’ experience. Ideal candidate will be independent and self-motivated. The position provides substantial file responsibility including ample court appearances and depositions.

We focus heavily on training our associates to become the best lawyers possible. All associates are assigned a dedicated mentor and we maintain an open-door policy for questions and additional training. Associates will have the opportunity to work cases from inception to trial with partner guidance. We encourage a relaxed working environment while emphasizing the aggressive representation of our clients. Once trained and accustomed to the firm atmosphere, attorneys have the ability to work remotely when necessary and when it would be more efficient in the growing remote world in our field.

Ideal candidate will possess:

· Excellent academic record

· Experience or exposure to civil litigation and/or insurance defense

· Strong work ethic

· Strong advocacy and verbal communication skills

· Excellent research and computer skills

· Strong legal writing skills for written discovery, reporting, and motion preparation

· Ability to take depositions and handle case files

· Desire for court appearances, deposition and trial work

· Ventura County ties or a desire to relocate to the Ventura area

· Professional demeanor, common sense problem solving and can-do attitude

This position has a salary range of $85,000.00 to $100,000.00, with benefits (401K, Medical, Dental, Vision, Life), a bonus structure for those who exceed minimum billing requirements, guided mentorship, and opportunities for advancement. We also provide resources to encourage further professional development and community involvement.
