Job Summary:

Working across a national portfolio in Australia the role of Assistant Underwriter at Allied World presents as an opportunity for an individual looking to develop a career in Professional and Financial Lines insurance. The role will be responsible for assisting and contributing to underwriting, account management and account administration. For the successful candidate Allied World will actively engage in, assist with and promote their learning and development in Professional and Financial Lines insurance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assisting underwriters in the assessment, analysis and recommendations on individual insurance accounts.

  • Undertaking of detailed research on companies, industries and sectors to assist in profitable account and portfolio underwriting.

  • The review, creation and timely issuance of policy quotations, contracts and endorsements.

  • Maintaining underwriting files in an orderly manner and in accordance with the underwriting guidelines.

  • The opportunity to participate in and lead ad-hoc strategic projects contributing to effective business strategies.

  • Engaging in both internal and external professional development training and activities within Australia, and more broadly Hong Kong and Singapore, as part of a broader regional Asia-Pacific Professional Lines team.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirement:
  • The role will be best suited to a university graduate or insurance professional with up to two years experience.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interface with stakeholders at various levels within Allied World and externally.
  • Already possess or have an aptitude to learn how to analyse industries, financial markets and contracts.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and organise work and manage deadlines.
  • Highly computer literate within MS office applications.
