SWCA Environmental Consultants’ Durango or Albuquerque office is actively seeking to fill an entry-level Assistant Staff Environmental Planner position. This position is a career growth opportunity to join SWCA’s expanding environmental planning practice. The role is a permanent, full-time, hourly position. The preferred applicant would be office based.

• Support a variety of project types including oil and gas, renewable energies, and other projects.
• Assist staff with federal and state permitting applications.
• Communicate directly with staff for pre-field preparations, project desktop analysis, and project status updates.
• Work closely with, and be mentored by, industry leading environmental planners and permitters.

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental planning, biology, ecology, environmental studies or related field.
• At least 1 year of relevant environmental experience required.
• Good written, logic, organizational, oral, analytical, and document management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, including an ability to work on more than one project at a time.
• Good organizational and computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, Power Point).
• Possess a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle to travel to office, project sites and meetings.

• Ability to gauge project workload and manage priorities.
• Ability to be flexible and willing to improve on task understanding and efficiencies.
• Willingness to perform under pressure with schedule constraints.
• Willingness to learn and grow into increased responsibilities.
