The position will normally require the teaching of twelve credit hours per semester or its equivalent. One course release a year is given for tenure-track faculty.
The basic requirement is the ability to teach courses required for the Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. For example:
CRJU 101:American Criminal System
CRJU 202: Research Methods in Criminology and Criminal Justice
CRJU 311: Policing
CRJU 312: Corrections
CRJU 313: Criminal Courts
In additional to teaching foundational criminal justice courses for freshmen and sophomore students, there are opportunities to teach upper-division courses in the University’s Palmetto College bachelor’s degree programs.
Instructors must have a demonstrated commitment to university/community service.
Assistant Professors must have a commitment to scholarship and university/community service.
Advising, and university/community service are expected.
Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Applicants who hold a Ph.D. in criminal justice or criminology, or in a closely related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in criminal justice including credentials necessary for departmental approval will be considered for a tenure track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor.
PhD in Criminal Justice or Criminology required by start date of employment.
