The College of Business at the University of Montana is seeking to fill a tenure-track position in Management Information Systems (MIS) at the assistant or associate professor level. The expected start date is Fall of 2024. Applicants will be expected to teach at both undergraduate and master’s levels, maintain an active research agenda, and engage in professional and service activities.

Position Details
Title: Assistant or Associate Professor of Management Information Systems (MIS)
Position Type: Tenure-track, academic, full time (1.0 FTE), during academic year (10-months)
Schedule: Academic year starting fall 2024

Minimum Requirements
- PhD. in business or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution prior to the starting date of employment. MIS should be the candidate’s primary area along with knowledge of cybersecurity.
- Teaching experience or interest in the following topics:
- Cybersecurity governance, risk, controls, and management
- Data analytics
- Application development
- Cloud services
- Demonstrated potential to publish or recent peer-reviewed journal publications in fields of expertise and an active, ongoing research agenda.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD. in MIS, IS, or Business (with MIS major/emphasis) from a school accredited by AACSB International.
- Teaching quality demonstrated by recent teaching evaluations and/or awards.
- Demonstrated commitment to serving the needs of diverse students (e.g., Native Americans, first generation college students, non-traditional aged students, military veterans).
- Relevant professional experience in information systems, information technology, advisory/consulting services, or cybersecurity
- Demonstrated ability to engage the business community
- Excellent written and oral communication
Appointment to the rank of associate professor requires research publications and years of teaching service at an AACSB accredited institution commensurate with the rank of associate professor. Salary is dependent on qualifications and is comparable with peer universities in the region. This position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, Faculty appointment, and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.

The UM Management Information Systems programs consist of a bachelor’s degree and a Master of Science in Business Analytics. The undergraduate MIS degree is the largest major within the College of Business and is one of the most innovative academic units at the University of Montana.
