Great Atlantic Contracting has been in the construction and renovation industry since 1977. We are locally owned, based in Virginia Beach, VA, and currently operate 15 self-storage facilities throughout Virginia. Our Assistant Operations Manager helps keep our crews running efficiently, follows up with vendors and contractors, and ensures our Operations Department is supported, all while coordinating with the Vice President and the Director of Operations. The successful Assistant Operations Manager at Great Atlantic Contracting is one who has a passion for the team mindset, accountability, and motivating positive changes regarding company growth.


Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Order needed office, marketing, and other miscellaneous supplies for properties and corporate offices.
  • Coordinate and facilitate with vendors for special projects.
  • Set weekly and daily schedules for crew members.
  • Discuss action items and emergency tasks that arise on the facilities and communicate to crew members.
  • Order and inventory needed materials for projects at the facilities.
  • Review and adjust employee timesheets as needed.
  • Create project proposals per the parameters set by the VP.
  • Coordinate with the Finance Dept regarding accounting and receipt tracking.
  • Assist in tracking and scheduling fleet maintenance and repairs.
  • Any other duty assigned to keep operations running smoothly.

Role Requirements:

  • Construction office management or similar experience strongly preferred.
  • Data management and report making abilities, to include use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Solid organization and time management with a strong attention to detail.
  • Accounting knowledge or experience with QuickBooks preferred.
  • Associate degree or higher preferred; high school diploma required.
  • Travel to our local facilities may be necessary at times, so reliable transportation is required.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Health, Vision, Dental benefits eligible after 60 days.
  • Paid Time Off eligible after 90 days.

  • Supplemental insurance coverages including Life, Short-Term Disability, etc.
  • Work/Life Balance – 40-hour work week with weekends off. Schedule is Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5pm.
  • Salary based on experience.

Minimum Physical Qualifications:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for a combined 8 hours daily.
  • Hand-eye coordination for typing and other duties.
  • Stoop, bend, lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
