Job description
The Lansing Lugnuts, High-A Affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, are seeking motivated, hardworking individuals to join our 2023 Field Crew Positions. This position, Assistant Groundskeeper is seasonal, running from April to October. This position would report to the Head Groundskeeper and would work on the day crew on game days and non-day game events. This position is ideal for someone with one to two years of turf management experience or someone looking to enter the turf management industry.
JOB DUTIES
- Maintain pitching mounds, home plate area, and bullpens
- Assist in mowing, fertilizing, edging infield/outfield, aerating, etc
- Assist in tarp pulls and tarp covers (home plate and mounds)-game and non-game days
- Field repair maintenance
- Cleaning dugouts, bullpens and field
- Set up and tear down batting practice
- Pre-game preparation
- Extra events (college and high school games, company outings, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Be willing to learn, with attention to detail.
- Grounds experience not required, but preferred.
- Must be able to work long hours.
- Must be able to work during days, nights and weekends.
- Work in various weather conditions
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to operate utility equipment
