The Assistant Director of TRIO Upward Bound Math/Science and Regular Upward Bound provides leadership for support for pre-college programs that prepare students to excel in college by providing support, motivation, and encouragement. Position oversees and manages both the UNL Upward Bound Math/Science and Regular Upward Bound programs by serving as a liaison with participants and their families, key personnel in the target schools, and at institutions of higher education. The position provides supervision and leadership to staff and ensures federal grant compliance.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in educational field as well as a minimum of 3 years of experience working in education related field. Experience planning and implementing educational programs for low-income and first-generation students. Successful experience building collaborative partnerships. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and a record of inclusion. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to develop programming to prepare high school students for college success. Maintain accurate student records and produce reports on student progress as needed. Must have a valid driver’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirement.
Preferred Qualifications
Direct experience working with a TRIO program or other educational experience for low-income and first-generation students. Experience managing staff. Experience developing, implementing, and managing a budget. Experience in program management. Experience managing and meeting grant expectations. Experience writing grants is desired.
