The Washington College Sports Medicine Department invites applicants for two (2) Full Time Assistant Athletic Trainers. Those who have recently completed their Masters and/ or Board of Certification exam are encouraged to apply. Both positions are 10- month, full benefit positions with a salary of $46,500 with additional continuing education opportunities. The Assistant Athletic Trainers work under the Director of Sports Medicine in the administration and supervision of the sports medicine program. The start date for both positions is August 1st, 2023.


Sport Assignments:

Sport assignments will be divided among all of the sports medicine staff based on experience and preferences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the athletic training room, including insuring proper use of equipment and facilities by student-athletes.

  • Provide medical coverage for designated teams, including pre-practice, practice, post-practice and game day coverage.

  • Analyze injuries to develop and implement treatment and rehabilitation programs and make return to play decisions.

  • Autonomous authority in all medical decision making.

  • Maintain detailed medical records for all injuries sustained by Student- Athletes

  • Communication (including participation status) with athletes, coaches, strength and conditioning staff and physicians as well as Health Services for all concussion related matters.

  • Travel with assigned teams as needed.

  • Assist with inventory within the Sports Medicine Department.

  • Assist with administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. A master’s degree in athletic training or related field is preferred.
  • BOC Certified at time of hire.
  • Maryland State Licensure (or eligible at time of hire).
  • Professional CPR/AED certification.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
