Studio Assistants support the Lead instructor to provide students with a safe, creative, inclusive, and fun learning experience. Assistants will be responsible for studio maintenance (organizational tasks and cleaning) and assisting with guiding up to 16 students ages 1-14, in a choice based art learning environment. Studio Assistants are expected to learn and anticipate the needs of the offering (class, camp, party), and to jump in as needed to support the students and the Lead Instructor throughout the shift. The Lead Instructor may direct Studio Assistant.

artSPARK Creative Studio is a unique art making space offering art + sewing classes, camps, parties, and workshops for toddlers-teens to explore ideas, techniques, and processes in Littleton, CO. artSPARK is a TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) inspired studio. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work collaboratively with Lead Instructor and assist them to prepare for offering, including reviewing teaching guides
  • Welcome students at the beginning of the offering, guide and support them to wash hands and put on art smocks
  • Support students to help them engage in age and skill appropriate art making and clean up
  • Cleaning and organizing art studio and materials while students are engaged in art making or play
  • Support Lead Instructors with classroom management in the use of effective and compassionate classroom management techniques
  • Work with students and Lead Instructors to navigate students social-emotional needs, including individual interventions as necessary. Meet students where they are to support a variety of different learning styles.
  • Communicate with Lead Instructor, and Manager as needed
  • Support an inclusive environment to encourage a sense of belonging and comfort by empowering students to express their thoughts and opinions about art and make connections with art and other cultures
  • Supervise students during lunch to keep kids safe as they eat and play (this task will only be expected during Summer and School Break Camp Weeks)
  • Support an educational practice that centers on equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Answering phone
  • Learn what we offer and communicating that to adult patrons

SCHEDULE

  • One to two, 3 hr shifts Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between 9-8, occasionally weekday afternoons/evenings.
  • Must be available both Saturdays AND Sundays. You will not be scheduled to work on both weekend days (unless you want to) but must have availability to do so.
  • Summer camp availability a plus.

This is a Part Time, supplemental income job with varying hours (3-12) each week during the school year and more hours during the summer working camps. Weekend and evening availability until 8:30pm is required.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Skills, etc.)

  • Be 18 yrs or older with a minimum of a high school diploma
  • Some formal or informal experience working with children
  • Passion for art and arts-integrated learning and experience with crafts and/or art making
  • Comfortable working in a choice-based learning environment
  • Ability to engage students with diverse identities and experiences in art
  • Ability to help students navigate social-emotional needs
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent organizational, cleaning, and communication skills
  • Ability to be on time and work efficiently
  • Open to feedback to learn and grow professionally

COMPENSATION: $15 hr starting pay

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $15.50 per hour
