The Stow Company is currently seeking qualified candidates for an Area Manager - Warehouse, a unique opportunity to support the launch of our new facility located in Nampa, Idaho. We are the country’s premier source for custom closets and organizational solutions; designed, custom-cut, and shipped directly to our clients. Demand for The Stow Company’s products has driven the need to add another highly automated manufacturing facility that requires dedicated, highly motivated, and technically competent engineers to assist in the ramp up of state-of-the-art equipment.
Primary Purpose of Position:
Direct and Lead the multi-shift operation of the Warehouse and Fulfillment areas of Stow. Reporting to the Plant Director, this position will directly manage a work team to ensure safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Ensure all manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner
- Effective communication and collaboration with all departments to support the production teams
- Results focused, positive leadership
- Ensure that all safety policies and procedures are followed at all times
- Ensure that all quality practices and verifications are being performed as required
- Drive continuous improvement; evaluate and enhance current operational systems
- Ensure proper implementation of Stow’s policies and procedures
- Manage department performance reviews and encourage
- Responsible for training individuals and teams
- Responsible for understanding and promoting Stow cultural values
Basic Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Logistics, Business, or other related area, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in a management/leadership role within a manufacturing facility
- 1-3 years of leadership experience working with multiple departments
- Previous experience in Lean manufacturing
- Experience with managing and tracking manufacturing KPI’s
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Proven leadership ability to build innovative and effective teams; advanced coaching skills
- Ability to effectively teach and train others; assess and develop team member skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to think innovatively
- Proficiency with computer systems; including MS Office Suite, ERP systems, web-based programs, etc.
- Ability to work collaboratively with groups and lead data driven decision-making processes
Physical Qualifications:
- Sitting at workstation approximately 30 percent of work time
- Standing and walking approximately 70 percent of work time
- Must be able to travel between plant and office locations
- Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice
- Typical office environment with shelves overhead and above work surfaces
- Manufacturing environment with multiple machinery and moving parts
The Stow Company may temporarily assign any team member with duties outside of their normal responsibilities. Such assignments may be warranted due to a variety of specific requirements, conditions and/or the capabilities of available personnel. Management will determine the nature and duration of those assignments.
