Job Description
Summary/objective
Conducts swim lessons for children and adults in private, semi-private and group settings following acac’s learn-to-swim program guidelines and swim levels.
Essential functions

- Able to demonstrate proper swim techniques
- Maintain constant control of lesson while emphasizing safety
- Keep attendance records
- Schedule lessons per club policy
- Arrive to work at least 5 minutes before prior to start of swim lessons
- Prepare for lesson with needed materials & equipment, clean up after lesson
- Teach progressive swim lessons and adhere to learn-to-swim program
- Communicate with participants and/or parents regarding progress of participants
- Be knowledgeable of acac aquatic policies and be able to effectively communicate these to members and guests
- Enforce aquatic policies
- Maintain familiarity with acac programs to manage questions and communicate knowledgeably to members and guests
Physical demands
- Must be able to actively participate in swim lessons using repetitive arm and leg motions
- Must be able to swim in both deep and shallow water
- Must be able to work in an often warm and humid environment with heightened noise
- Must be able to work in both warm water and cool water pools
- Ability to work varied shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Required competencies, education, and experience
- High School diploma preferred
- Prior aquatics teaching or coaching experience preferred
- Current or expired Red Cross WSI certification, prior teaching and/or coaching experience may be substituted in lieu of certification
- Superior customer service skills; ability to work with both children and adults
- Ability to be creative in finding the best teaching methods to accommodate different populations

- Club cleanliness is an all-team responsibility; assist whenever necessary in any area of the club to keep club neat and clean
- Assist with Service Days
- Willingness to assist with acac programs, special events, or activities outside your department
- When supervisor or team members calls or emails, promptly return contact
- Exhibit a positive attitude at all times
- Deliver outstanding service to members and guests with friendliness, direct eye contact, a pleasant demeanor at all times
