Position Summary

Responsible for system administration, hardware/software support, model/configuration maintenance, security, programming, troubleshooting, andenhancements to SCADA control systems used for real-time outage management and restoration of CPS Energy’s electric and gas facilities.Additionally, development of procedures, documenting, providing analytical support to SCADA engineers and System Operations as needed. TheControl Systems analyst will work with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the safe, reliable, and accurate real-time operations of the electric and gasnetworks under CPS Energy control.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Maintains and enhances Control Systems such as Energy Management System, Aveva PI historian, Advanced Distribution Management System etc as required to support real-time operations.
  • Performs proactive and reactive system administration duties of various SCADA systems, applications and system integrations utilizing various technologies.
  • Maintains current knowledge of SCADA, outage management, and smart grid industry trends and technologies.
  • Develops and conducts training classes when necessary.
  • Proactively evaluates control systems to ensure reliable, safe and accurate operation and performance.
  • Analyzes and troubleshoots SCADA application/system operation and coordinates with necessary stakeholders to provide timely resolutions and thorough documentation related to system issues.
  • Participate in complex system integration and high-availability designs for SCADA systems to ensure safe, reliable and accurate operation.
  • Collaborates with outside stakeholders to solve problems or implement changes/enhancements
  • Actively participates in the reliability and cyber security regulatory compliance related to SCADA systems (NERC, TSA, etc)
  • May provide call duty support to includes nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Participates in ongoing maintenance, planning and testing of disaster recovery/business continuity activities.
  • Logs and tracks problem and development requests including message handling and dispatching, resolution tracking and problem escalation.
  • Performs system administration duties of various software platforms and applications

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Relative experience in program/project management for Operational Units.
Basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of a particular field of specialization.
Ability to set priorities, organize work and make occasional exceptions.
Ability to work at any location at any time with extensive time in the field working with business areas
Initiative to work independently or as a member of a team, coordinating with others to achieve desired results
Demonstrated well-developed written and verbal communications skills for interaction within the section, across departmental lines to all levels of personnel, and vertically with management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a programmer/analyst in field supporting and providing technical and analytical solutions preferred.
  • Experience in program/ project management for operational units.
  • Master's degree or relevant Certification preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in providing support for real-time SCADA systems
  • Experience with system integrations using ETL, RESTFul APIs, CIM, and other integrations standards
  • Experience using and administering the Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Experience querying various types of databases using SQL tools and/or APIs
  • Knowledge relating to computer networks and TCP/IP protocol
  • Knowledge and practical use of common interpreted languages such as Python, Shell, JavaScript, etc
  • Experience with NERC Reliability and CIP standards
  • Experience providing support and responding in a real-time operational environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Math, the Natural Sciences, or other quantitative field from an accredited university or related area; proven working experience may be used in lieu of degree
