High School Diploma or equivalent GED. Associate or bachelor’s degree in aviation, business or relevant experience.
Job Description:
Responsible for ensuring safe operation of Ascension Island Auxiliary Air Field. Assure separation of aircraft, coordination of Air Traffic Control clearances, controlling all flight line activities, weather observer duties, flight following all transient aviation, and maintaining the Base Operations event logs.
Qualifications:
Experience Required: Journeyman Skilled level dispatching aircraft and operating, VFR Control Tower Experience, operating VHF, UHF, and MARISAT radio systems.
Training Required: Completion of current Airfield: Standards & Facilities Computer Based Training (CBT) and other Airfield CBTs and requirements deemed necessary by the USAF AFM.
Certifications Required: Air Traffic Control Tower Operator (CTO), Traffic Control Design Specialist (TCDS), and Certified Aviation Manager (CAM). Must pass FAA Class II Physical, US Citizen obtain US Passport, Obtain and maintain DOD security clearance at Secret level.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Operate Ascension Auxiliary Air Field (AAAF) per IAW: Ascension Air Field Operation Instructions AFMAN, Aircraft Control, FAA 7110.65. (Other related documents.)
- Flexible work schedule dependent on flight schedules.
- Control Tower Operator - Performs effective operations to assure safe take-offs and landings.
- Coordinate, Issue, receive, and maintain all Prior Permission Required (PPR) numbers for aircraft arrivals and aircraft support services.
- Flight-Follows aircraft and reports ATAs, ATDs, and other flight information to Air Traffic Control agencies (ATC)
- Relays ATC clearances to inbound, outbound and over-flying aircraft.
- Performs controller duties to assure safe, orderly and expeditions flow of air traffic and ground runway traffic.
- Provides airfield advisory service to arriving and departing aircraft.
- Controls and monitors all access and activity on the Controlled Movement Area (CMA).
- Transfer control of departing flights to other traffic control centers and accept control of arriving flights.
- Provide useful information related to weather, wind, flight paths, possible delays and runway openings and closures.
- Provides technical assistance and advises Sr. Management on ATC and airfield matters.
- Handles classified mail and documents.
- Alert response teams of safety concerns or emergencies.
- File incident reports as required by the government.
- Document and maintain training on personnel conducting airfield checks and/or inspections.
- Performs other duties as assigned, such as assisting with other duties assigned during unmanned tower hours.

Salary Range:
$30+ per hr.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour

- Patrick Afb, FL: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

- DoD experience: 1 year (Preferred)
