Adverse Subrogation Representative
Job description
Plymouth Rock Assurance is looking for an experienced Adverse Subrogation Claims Representative responsible for independently investigating, pursuing and recovering monies from parties that are responsible for losses sustained by our insureds.
You will pursue appropriate action to facilitate prompt collection and maximum recovery and be responsible for assessing liability and negotiating settlement with all at fault parties. You will be part of a fast-moving team and will be expected to help enhance our process and culture with your insight and experience.
Responsibilities Include:
- Responsible for the analysis of the investigation completed to make a liability assessment. This includes the review and analysis of first and third party statements, witnesses, scene photos, investigating officers and other relevant parties, along with the review and analysis of all damages claimed including but not limited to vehicle damages, etc.
- Analyze the investigation to determine proximate cause, negligence, and damages. Evaluate and adjust reserves as necessary.
- Negotiate and settle claims within his/her individual authority. Submit claims for approval to supervisor when over his/her authority or for guidance, review and/or referral when appropriate.
- Maintain an effective follow-up system on pending files. Prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Adjust to fluctuating workload. Advise insureds, claimants, brokers on the status of the claim. Act as an intermediary between the Company, preferred vendors and customers. Resolve all disputes that may arise.
- Ability to “set up” cases in the Adverse Stream system.
- Ability to maintain an active, current diary management.
- Ability to respond to/write Arbitration contentions or willingness to learn how to do so.
- Willingness to be certified as an Arbitrator with arbitration Forums.
- Adhere to privacy guidelines, law and regulations pertaining to claims handling.
- Ability to analyze investigation and “scrub” adverse carrier “proofs” to secure the best possible settlement. In the scrubbing of proofs, ability to work with our appraisal staff or Hyper Quest.
Qualifications and Education
- Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products.
- Minimum of 3 to 5+ years of handling auto comparative negligence claims.
- Working knowledge of the inter-company arbitration process is a plus.
- Arbitration Forums certification is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university and/or a combination of education and experience will be considered.
- The ability to obtain State Licenses when requested.
- Pursuing an insurance designation is a plus but not mandatory.
- Strong customer service, organizational, verbal, and written skills are required.
