Job Summary:
The PACS Administrator role is to oversee, and ensure the appropriate functionality of the informatics systems involved with the delivery, and receipt of imaging information for Methodist Health System patients, clients, and others. The primary responsibilities include developing, maintaining, and utilizing informatics systems supporting imaging operations to include test directory maintenance, order entry, results deliver, billing, and query report functionality within regulatory standards. The imaging informatics model must adhere to the accreditation standards of the American College of Radiology (ACR), the FDA, the Joint Commission, and the Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Conditions for participation rules. This position is responsible for development, and continuous review of all policies/procedures associated with all Imaging Informatics systems. Provides continuous instruction, training, and support to the imaging team and healthcare professionals on imaging systems functions. Serves as liaison between imaging staff, information systems, billing, and other departments as needed. Oversees imaging RIS equipment, and is responsible for troubleshooting issues with hardware, software, and interfaces.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
Participates in short-range, and long-range planning to maintain Nebraska Methodist Health System, and the Imaging Division's vision by evaluating operations, recommending changes, and implementing strategies.
- Collaborates with Finance to audit chargemaster for price, and CPT code inconsistencies.
- Works with departments to ensure accurate information is provided for any new order build.
- Follows established procedure for procedure additions, updates, or deletions.
- Validates changes made by IT, Business Office, and Medical Records.
- Works with modalities to implement new processes for documentation, and orders.
- Assists Imaging Division in adopting new processes due to regulations or Health System recommendations.
- Risk protector - secures the organization's long-term ability to serve.
Maintains and encourages regular open communications in imaging with other systems within Nebraska Methodist Health System to coordinate, and integrate operations, planning, and projects utilizing all appropriate techniques.
- Assists IT in non-production, and production validation of new software updates, and order-able procedures.
- Regularly participates in user meetings, process design, and planning meetings of all systems.
- Directs involvement in development of forms, orders, questionnaires, etc. to support workflow, and meets regulatory requirements.
- Communicates with IT affected modalities, and appropriate management for all problems, and concerns as needed.
- Provides feedback to management on status of issues.
- Collaborates with HIM, Finance, Diagnostic Scheduling, or any other team to ensure all standards for correct, and timely resolution of issues is met.
- Works with Clinical Informatics to ensure "best practice" is utilized in imaging modalities.
- Works with Radiologists to ensure proper content in imaging reports per regulations, and coding guidelines.
Participates in mandatory in-services, and/or CE programs as mandated by policies and procedures/external agencies, and as directed by management.
Oversees the operations, and functionality of information systems within Methodist Imaging to ensure efficient systems operation utilizing project management, including analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation.
- Monitors Imaging applications for appropriate encounter, order, and charges across the division.
- Monitors orders on incorrect encounters.
- Provides timely review/revision of Imaging Informatics policies, and procedures.
- Submits problems that affect operations in imaging IT Service Desk.
- Independently troubleshoots and gathers information and operations status.
- Corrects issues "on the spot" for a timely resolution.
- Manages resources effectively to ensure operational stability, and systems integration by providing information for adhering to departmental, operational, and fiscal policy.
Quality and Safety
- Provides excellent service to imaging, and support areas by utilizing department policies, and system operating procedures.
- Ensures ongoing user competency of Imaging programs/applications through training materials, and onsite visits.
- Demonstrates appropriate communication skills.
- Provides order inquiry support, documentation, reporting, troubleshooting, and RIS procedure recommendations.
- Develops and implements downtime policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of PowerChart, RadNet, PowerScribe, Philips Intellispace PACS, AS OB Reporting and other Imaging programs and applications in order to audit, and troubleshoot issues.
Connects people to each other, and our patients needs/customers.
- Ensures employee operating skills of various Imaging programs/applications by preparing training materials.
- Assists in training for all new employees as needed.
- Assists staff with imaging applications as needed.

Job Requirements
Education
- Graduate of an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) school of Radiologic Technology preferred.
- Associate's Degree in Radiology, Information Technology, or related healthcare field preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of on the job experience in a Radiology Department required.
- Demonstrated experience with imaging computer systems required.
- Experience as team leader preferred.
License/Certifications
- Registered in Radiography (R) through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Knowledge of medical information systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively with hospital personnel, patients, and the public through daily rounds, meetings, and formal presentations.
- Skilled in the use of Cerner, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint applications.
- Ability to analyze medical literature, outcome and safety data, and financial information.
- Ability to interpret, evaluate and articulate specific informatics functionality to formulate, and assist with imaging strategic plans, goals, and patient care plans.
- Ability to work alone with minimal supervision, and prepare written policies and procedures for the imaging service without prompting.
- Ability to support teamwork with other imaging staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Imaging Leadership, Radiologists, and staff to assure highest functionality of imaging information systems.
- Ability to develop, maintain and strengthen relationships inter-departmentally to assure successful system goals, and processes.
- Ability to prioritize time, and tasks according to the needs of patients, and the department.
