James Madison University is accepting applications for a Systems Administrator to work as part of a team that implements and maintains general-use and departmental-use Windows and Macintosh computing labs and technology-enabled classrooms for academic instruction and computer-based learning and testing. The Systems Administrator participates in development, maintenance, and support of the department’s proprietary computer lab management software.

Information Technology is accepting applications for an Administrative Assistant. The person within this position reports to a Director and manages departmental administrative needs, manages and coordinates departmental budget, manages and coordinates HR and payroll departmental functions, serves as the University procurement departmental liaison for specific software products, and contributes to the IT team.

Duties and Responsibilities
Provide administrative and office support for the Computing Support department and for other areas of Information Technology. Manage departmental administrative needs. Respond to customer inquiries for assistance. Maintain detailed budgetary records for Computing Support and Lab budgets. Helps administer payroll for student and part-time staff. Maintain detailed records of all staff and lab facilities hardware and software. Consult and assist departments on software purchases.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Considerable knowledge of office management practices
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles
  • Knowledge of timekeeping and payroll processes
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience with Windows platform
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical individuals
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform web-based research
Preferred:
  • Considerable knowledge of state procurement processes

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
