Job description
The Town of Ashland is seeking qualified, experienced, and energetic applicants for the position of Activity & Volunteer Coordinator in the Community Center. This position is 35 hours per week* with an hourly rate of $22 - $24 per hour. The Activity Coordinator is responsible for developing, planning, coordinating and promoting activities, services and new and on-going programs. This position will create marketing materials including the monthly newsletter, and website and social media platforms. The Activity & Volunteer Coordinator will recruit, train, manage volunteers, and maintain the volunteer handbook as well as maintain files and the database for all programs offered at the Senior Center.
The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, two years of experience in events or activities planning or a related field, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. A Valid Massachusetts driver’s license. The employee must be ServSafe certified and First Aid/CPR certified (training to be provided by the Town). The successful candidate should have knowledge of services and programs available to elders, principles, techniques, and tools used in public communications including online meetings (i.e. Zoom and Google Meet), Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and social media platforms. The position requires the ability to communicate both orally and in writing, to be a good listener, to display sensitivity to elder needs, and to have strong social and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate by telephone or in-person in a one-to-one or group setting. Must be able to input data into the existing database “My Senior Center” and work cooperatively with other Town employees and the general public. The position requires skill in standard office equipment and computer applications. Also, there is some lifting involved and setting up furniture for programs required. Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Senior and Social Services.
The position is located in Ashland, MA. Some evening/occasional weekend hours may be required. Salary range is $22-$24 per hour and is based on experience. - 25 hours/week are budgeted and 10 hours/week are grant funded. The grant funded 10 hours/week are subject to immediate termination if the grant funding ceases.
