Position Summary:
As part of a growing and dynamic accounting team, the Accounting Manager will play a key management role in making sure all aspects of insurance accounting are done in a timely and accurate fashion.
Essential Duties and responsibilities:
- Oversee and provide overarching financial expertise and hands on day to day issue resolution of the Insurance Accounting Department in the following areas:
- Receivables
- Collections
- Carrier payables
- Return premium refunds
- Commission payables
- Direct bill commission downloads
- Bordereau reporting
- Recommend and maintain policies and procedures that adhere to best practices
- Create and review reports to make sure policies and procedures are followed on a timely basis
- Create and maintain the bordereau reporting files in Microsoft Excel
- Work with other internal departments to resolve issues
- Manage insurance accounting staff of 6 to 8 (hiring and termination, supervision and performance reviews)
- Communicate in professional manner with management and external parties (insurance companies, clients, internal staff, vendors, etc.)
- Assist with projects and other responsibilities as assigned
