Our Accountants play a critical role in the success of our business and our projects. They are responsible for project-specific as well as general full-cycle responsiblities. Here's how an Accountant for our Los Angeles, Irvine or San Diego office makes an impact to our team:
What you'll do to make an impact:
- Collects, reconciles, obtains approval for, and processes all project-related trade contractor payments, general expenditures, and internal payroll costing allocations
- Completes all financial transactions in a timely and accurate manner in order to meet all contract payment terms per legislation, contract terms, and PCL policies and procedures
- Participates in monthly forecast review meetings for assigned projects to provide input on recoveries and various other reconciliations
- Assists with ad-hoc reports/analysis, internal/external audits, and year-end procedures as assigned
- Assists with assembling information for internal financial reporting requirements and external financial reporting requirements (e.g., government agencies, taxes)
- Assembles client billing packages in accordance with contract terms and conditions and follows up appropriately to ensure on-time payment
- Assists with the review and analysis of monthly contract reports to ensure good management of cash flow, receivables, profit recognition, and ledger balances
- Ensures that all required documentation is in place, including insurance, bonding, and lien waivers
- Communicates effectively and maintains strong client focus with internal and external stakeholders
What you'll bring to the team:
- Postsecondary degree or diploma in a related discipline
- Accounting designation an asset
- 2 or more years of progressive experience with direct project administration and accounting in the construction or a related industry preferred
- Intermediate understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
- Basic understanding of project forecasting and budgeting
- Basic knowledge of project costing principles, insurance, and contract/subcontract requirements as related to accounting
- Basic knowledge of government legislation regarding accounting and applicable generally accepted accounting practices and standards
- Basic exposure to bid and contract securities, insurance, and lien rights as they relate to risk management, claims management, pricing, and accounting are an asset
- Basic understanding of subcontract PO terms including insurance and bonding requirements an asset
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with conflicting deadlines
- Ability to act with the required discretion when handling confidential information
- Strong organizational skills and high level of detail orientation, with the ability to accurately prepare and enter financial information to meet deadlines and requirements
- Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge and experience with accounting software. Specific experience with Oracle/E1 an asset
Supervisory Responsibilities
- No formal direct or indirect reports
- Mentoring and coaching of more junior staff and assigning and monitoring day-to-day responsibilities of students/interns

The salary range for this position is between $60,000 to $90,00 per year based on experience and qualifications.
