Summary: The Account Executive increases DPI sales by facilitating, prospecting, and marketing perishable and dry products to customer buyers and managers. This includes monitoring inventory and customer performance related to products, items, promotions and sales; communication of all facets of business with sales and customer service personnel including providing recommendations to the VP of sales for all aspects of vendor negotiation. The Account Executive coordinates promotional activities and assists with resolution of billing discrepancies. The Account Executive displays exemplary organizational and communications skills in order to develop, nurture and maintain vendor and customer relationships. The Account Executive must project a positive image to DPI vendors and customers (internal and external) in a manner that adheres to DPI policies, procedures and expectations.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage, evaluate, and motivate the Sales Associates and Business Support team to drive product sales at customer sites.
- Monitor and analyze customer performance related to sales, promotional activity, inventory, order discrepancies, out of stock, and shortage reports; review performance with chain customers and vendor/broker partners; respond effectively to customer issues and concerns.
- Communicate all facets of business with DPI sales and customer service personnel in a timely manner in order to promote DPI sales.
- Review and prepare recommendations to the VP of Sales for all aspects of vendor negotiations including itemization, promotional planning, advertising, display opportunities and margin maintenance.
- Coordinate promotional activities with customers; manage market spending for new item roll-outs, item authorizations and annual promotional activities.
- Develop, nurture and maintain positive working relationships with DPI associates, customers and vendor partners.
- Complete various paperwork and reports including new item, promotional and distribution forms accurately and timely; prepare and review demonstration and advertising support schedules and contracts.
- Operate vehicle to travel to/from customer locations throughout assigned territory.
- Attends training and meetings in accordance with DPI standards.
- May assist with resets and merchandising of equipment including setting up and taking down displays and promotional arrangements.
- Maintains a clean work environment, may include picking up trash or cleaning spills.
- Other duties may be assigned to fulfill DPI’s objectives.
A bachelor’s degree is preferred, along with 3-5 years of sales related experience (distribution, retail, brokerage or manufacturing). The Account Executive must possess advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point).

- Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills demonstrating a strong work ethic and the ability to lead, teach and motivate others.

The work environment is typically indoors at customer sites. There is exposure to weather when traveling and getting in and out of the vehicle.
Work Hours: The work schedule is 5 days per week, 8 hours per day. Initial start time may vary, with work hours typically from 8am-5pm. Work hours and shifts are subject to change depending on operating business conditions and needs. The employee may be required to work overtime and holidays or weekends. Overnight travel may be required.
Physical and Mental Demands:
Light. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 pounds of force frequently, to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Light work involves frequent sitting but may involve walking or standing for significant periods of time.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Oversees the Account Executive Assistant, Business Support, Sales Analyst.
