Job description
This position is for coder who will be responsible for 100% charge capture by reviewing physician dictated notes and procedure notes and properly code all service performed utilizing appropriate ICD-10 CM, CPT codes and modifiers. Daily review of EPIC Charge Review Work queues is essential. Participation in coding training and education is also required. Maintaining yearly certification as a Certified Professional Coder is required with the American Academy of Professional Coders.

- Review provider documentation to accurately code levels of service and procedures for designated departments.
- Review of daily volume of work assigned to each abstractor, advise manager of areas of heavy volume so work can be reassigned as needed.
- Serve as a resource with regards to rules for the best utilization of CPT-4 codes, ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and modifiers to maximize reimbursement for designated services,
- Monitor various reports, e.g., Workqueues, CCI edits, etc.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Assist in identifying coding issues as applicable to areas of responsibility.
- Be aware of third party payment issues and requirements that impact how services are coded and tracked
