The South Portland School Department is seeking a dynamic math and science teacher to work with our 5th grade students at South Portland Middle School, a new 5th-8th grade school which will open its doors for the first time in the Fall of 2023. SPMS uses an inquiry based approach to science and the Open Up Resources math curriculum. Teachers work collaboratively to develop proficiency-based, culturally relevant units. All Math/Science teachers are on a teaching team with Humanities teachers.The successful candidate will have experience working with racially, linguistically, and economically diverse youth and their families. In addition, experience with PBIS, restorative justice practices, and MTSS is preferred. Flexibility, desire, and the enthusiasm to open a brand new school as well as the excitement to work with middle schoolers required!
