TE – TEACHING & LEARNING COACH, EARLY EDUCATION (PROFESSIONAL STAFF)

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current Missouri Teaching Certification.
  • Master’s degree in Education required. Areas of focus in Early Childhood, Curriculum and Instruction, Literacy/Reading, Teaching and Learning with Technology.
  • Several years of successful classroom teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of Project Construct and the Missouri Early Learning Standards.
  • Knowledge and experience in facilitating teaching and coaching adult learners.
  • Recognize the need to raise standards and expectations to enhance instructional effectiveness to keep pace with changes beyond the classroom.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Early Education Center Building Principal

JOB GOAL: Provide support and leadership services for administrators and teachers to ensure teachers’ instructional strategies are effective in helping increase social emotional and academic skills.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Continue lifelong learning with the capacity to use the “train the trainer” model for implementing district initiatives and have skills to develop the curriculum for use in the buildings.
  • Work in the classroom with teachers to improve social emotional and academic skills.
  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators on assessment for learning and use of assessments in an ongoing and sustainable manner along with application of software and technology to assist students.
  • Supervise ongoing literacy assessments, analyze results and assist teachers in linking assessment to instruction.
  • Model instructional practices in classrooms in supporting PLTs, cohorts and literacy based.
  • Plan and conduct regular PLT meetings at the EEC, as well as the school-based PLTs.
  • Monitor the implementation and provide feedback to the building principals and teacher leaders on progress towards implementation of Project Construct, theme-based units of study, Conscious Discipline, and Whole School Literacy Focus.
  • Understand and apply the Project Construct philosophy as a common framework for curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  • Collaborate with building principals, teacher leaders, and Academic Services to facilitate professional development.
  • Collaborate on a regular basis with the Instructional Coordinators, Executive Director of Technology and Early Education Administration in order to disseminate district information.
  • Provide job-embedded assistance to support instructional effectiveness that will improve student learning/achievement: collaborative instructional reviews; model quality instruction; lesson review and design; literacy strategies; effective technology integration into instruction.
  • Assist administrators and teachers by providing monitoring, training and tools that support transition to high quality standards and aligned authentic assessments.
  • Understand and apply strategies that cultivate learner engagement.
  • Leverage technology and other proven instructional tools and practices.
  • Infuse technology into curriculum, instruction and assessment.
  • Collaborate with behavioral interventionist to ensure structure and routines are established.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Complies with all district rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The individual who holds this position is regularly required to walk, hear and speak and must have close moderate and distance vision ability. This individual must be able to travel between district facilities. The position requires a moderate amount of travel and physical activity.

CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is consistent with typical office/school environment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work calendar to be established by the Board of Education. Benefits according to Board policies.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES: Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate

CLEARANCES: Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluations utilizing the Performance Based Teacher Evaluation process.
