Colleton Medical Center is looking for a FT - NIGHT shift - Medical Lab Technician!

Medical Lab Technicians perform tests and procedures in one or more areas of the clinical laboratory. Medical Lab Technicians are accountable for accurate results, the proper use of quality control materials and evaluation of those results. They must recognize the interdependency of tests and conditions that affect test results. Participate in continuing education, competency and proficiency testing.

Job Summary:

• Inventories, orders, receive, inspects and documents receipt of supplies, instrument parts and appropriate stock of blood products and stores in the correct areas.
• Performs routine, STAT and timed tests on specimens in accordance with procedure manuals and laboratory policies. Prioritizes workload to meet customer needs.
• Provides phlebotomy procedure for all age groups
  
• Participates in preceptor program for employees and students.
• Performs quality control according to established policies and procedures, documenting all outliers with corrective action.
• Reviews patient results and documents all actions taken.
• Performs and documents preventive maintenance, when scheduled.
• Performs proficiency testing, compiles data and send to reporting agency.
  
• Updates department procedures, conducts studies for evaluation of new procedures and makes those recommendations to laboratory management.
• Performs all computer functions relating to entering and retrieving patient data. Utilizes downtime procedures when necessary.

Qualification:

• Currently certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by ASCP or AMT.
• Associates degree PLUS completion of an approved MLT program.

• An associate degree or at least 60 semester hours of academic credit from a regionally accredited college/university, including 6 semester hours of Chemistry and 6 semester hours of Biology AND three years full time acceptable clinical laboratory experience in Blood Banking, Chemistry , Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology and Clinical Microscopy in the US.
