Summary
Designs and analyzes mechanical systems, equipment and packaging. Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. Provides design information to drafting for packaging documentation.

• Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for new products.
• Develops mechanical designs including: 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, schedules and presentations to capture and communicate the mechanical design to team members and vendors.
• Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software including third party certification of completed designs.
• Perform engineering calculations to support design work.
• Prepares documentation of critical analysis and provides suggestions for correcting errors.
• Develop testing processes and perform testing and validation of new designs.
• Generate working prototypes for beta testing and customer demonstration.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors as needed to manufacture prototypes and completed designs.
• Ensures successful and timely project completion with adherence to budget.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Proficient with 2D/3D CAD packages, Finite Element Analysis, and other mechanical design software.
• Proficient with business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Typical Education and Experience

• Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering
• 3+ years of related experience
• Experience in new systems development, technical standards review, and third party certifications desired.
• Experience with complex systems installation and civil works projects desired.
• Ability to manage multiple efforts in parallel as needed.
• Experience with security, imaging, manufacturing, and global-scale project management a plus.
• Experience with capture and successful execution of externally funded projects a plus.
• Experience working with a multi-functional team in a high-level collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality desired.
• Active Professional Engineer license a plus.
