Job Summary

The Litchfield County Housing Coordinator will provide dedicated housing search and coordination services to unsheltered and unstably housed households. The appropriate candidate will coordinate all of Litchfield County's housing efforts to ensure permanent, timely housing placements for all households experiencing a housing crisis. This position will focus on developing partnerships with local landlords and expanding a dynamic regional housing vacancy inventory list. The Litchfield County Housing Coordinator will work closely with the frontline staff and community case managers to support each household in obtaining permanent, stable housing.

Job Responsibilities

• Collaborate to explore affordable housing opportunities that could foster long-term relationships with landlords and developers.
• Coordinate an intake, screening, and housing-based assessment to identify clients' housing strengths, abilities, and goals in order to secure and maintain housing. And provide education to clients regarding tenant rights: how to be a tenant/neighbor, understanding lease provisions, and any other identified housing needs.
• Cultivate relationships with landlords, property managers, and realty companies in the region by meeting with them one-on-one. Including education and funding opportunities.
• To assure housing stability, investigate and resolve client and landlord issues, and when necessary and appropriate, provide informal mediation services.
• Work closely with outreach, navigation, and frontline staff to support their work and the collaborative goal of identifying housing opportunities and attend meetings as necessary including but not limited to housing solution meetings, provider meetings, etc.
• Participate in training related to best practices within the Coordinated Access Network system ensuring constant and consistent improvement of the following, including but not limited to motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, HMIS, HQS inspection, etc.
• Other Relevant duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree required
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Minimum of eight years of experience providing homeless or social services
• Experience providing case management preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including telephone communication
